They are generally considered to have been revealed around the same time. Because of subject matter, length, style, and placement in the Qur'an, this sorah is often coupled with Surah ad-Dhuha. It is typically assumed that this sorah is referring to the early days of Muhammad's (pbuh) prophethood, when he would have been unsure about how his people would receive him. Regarding the timing and contextual background of the supposed revelation (asbab al-nuzul), it is an earlier "Meccan / Makki surah", which means it is believed to have been revealed in Mecca, instead of later in Medina.
